- Fixed a problem with the ACARS Logging for the
IYP-Virtual Air Beech KingAir 350 where the PIREP
verification process was inadvertently deducting pilot compensation for failure to conduct the
Start Up Checklist, when it fact they had done so.
Thanks Rocky (Pilot #16770) for catching this problem. Robert
- I hope I have fixed a problem where the Auto-Taxiing
facility was intermittently initialising when not desirable... like when taking off! [SMILES]

- "Fly the VOR Heading"
Before the addition of this new facility, it was virtually impossible for our Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) pilots to fly towards a VOR navaid,
since all of the readouts are graphical gauges and cannot be read with a screen reader. The following describes how a BVI pilot (as well
as sighted pilots incidentally) can have Michelle fly to and from a VOR navaid.
Here are the steps:
- Set the NAV1 to the frequency of the VOR marker. For example, say to Michelle... "Set Nav 1 to 117.2".
- Next say to Michelle... "Rotate NAV1 OBS TO Center". She will rotate the OBS knob/control on the CDI until the needle
indicates a lock on the VOR.
- Once Michelle has confirmed the rotation was successfully conmpleted, ask Michelle to... "Fly the VOR heading".
She will set NAV/GPS on NAV, set NAV1 VOR ON, turn the aircraft towards to VOR, and periodically report the distance to the VOR.
NOTE:
The same process can be used in reverse in order to fly AWAY from a VOR, by asking Michelle to... "Rotate NAV1 OBS FROM Center".
|
September 8, 2011
- Add the voice command, "Resume GPS Navigation" which accomplishes the same things as saying,
"Set NAV-GPS on GPS", followed by, "Set NAV-VOR On".
- Modified the Loading Procedures for the It's Your Plane Virtual Air system.

September 2, 2011
- A couple of blind pilots requested that we include the Waypoint Name when asking Michelle for information about same.
Asking Michelle to...
"Get distance to next waypoint"
will now hear her respond with (e.g.)...
"Distance to Golf Echo Novermber Sierra, thirty four miles"
etc.
- Added provisions to Activate/Deactivate the Keyboard Interface. As of this version, when launching the IYP application,
the Keyboard Interface is ACTIVE for sighted pilots, and INACTIVE for Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) pilots. This permits BVI pilots
to more readily use their screen readers to read the computer's screen data.
If the BVI member wishes to participate in a Come Fly With Me session,
or communicate with other pilots via the IYP Central system, the Microphone Switching mechanism is needed. BVI pilots can then
issue the following voice command...
"Activate Keyboard Interface"
to enable the use of the LEFT SHIFT KEY. (Please refer to PAGE 168 of the IYP Users' Manual for details)
At the end of their session, they can once again deactivate the Keyboard Interface by issuing the voice command...
"Deactivate Keyboard Interface"
- Added a new start up sequence for the It's Your Plane Virtual Air system.
- Added additional crew announcements for the It's Your Plane Virtual Air system.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You will be periodically receiving messages when you launch IYP that the system is being upgraded.
This will continue to be the case for the next short while, until all of the IYP-VA resources are installed. Thank you for your patience.

- When issuing the command, "Deactivate the System", the Green Speech Bar now continuously displays the text ... SYSTEM DEACTIVATED...
to let you see the IYP application state at a glance. Thanks for the suggestion Mike!
- When chaging aircraft in the Come Fly With Me or IYP Central modes, the system will NO LONGER disconnect
and re-initialise TeamSpeak as it has in the past. Your Teamspeak session remains in tact.

August 16, 2011
- Fixed a problem where Michelle would not switch to the Com Frequency of 119.43.
- Added code to ensure that the aircraft's control surfaces are properly set before taking off in the Blind Pilot Mode.
- Added the ability for blind and/or visually impaired pilots to obtain the winds aloft by saying... "Get winds aloft". Michelle will repond with something
like... "Three two seven at five eight".
- Fixed a Project Magenta Interface problem when starting IYP in the WideFS mode.
- The ILS Approaches for CYQQ (Comox, British Columbia) and CYQB (Lasaga Intl, Quebec City, Quebec) that are part
of the IYP-VA Scheduled Flights,
are problematic. Tom, IYP Pilot #16236 has provided us with a solution to these (and other Canadian) ILS Approaches.
Please refer to the Approach Fixes section in the Resource Centre for details.
- The FSX ILS Approaches into Geneva, Switzerland (LSGG), are beyond problematic... they're a mess! I have provided a fix for this.
Please refer to the Approach Fixes section in the Resource Centre for details.
- Changes to the Descent Checklist Procedures
Modified the code such that Michelle/Mike will NO LONGER automatically call for the Descent checklist when leaving your Cruising Altitude.
This modification to the code ensures that the Descent checklist query does not get inadvertently
called during rapid descents caused by Clear Air Turbulence (CAT).
This change does NOT however, diminish the IMPORTANCE that you execute the
Descent checklist as soon as possible after starting your final descent to the destination airport. Say the phrase,
"Descent checklist" as soon as possible after starting your descent.
This is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT so that Michelle/Mike can continue to optimise the rate-of-descent and airspeeds.
Remember, in the IYP application, your Co-Pilot is perfoming all of the functions typically carried out by a Flight Management Computer (FMC)
found in expensive payway aircraft.
- Chasing the Localizer
In some instances, Microsoft's ATC (and far more often Radar Contact 4's ATC) will vector you towards the assigned destination runway 30 to 40 miles out;
well outside the aircraft's ability to grab the Localizer. Then, when the Localizer finally comes alive, you've already passed the point where
the aircraft can LOCK onto the Localizer.
Well, I told Michelle (and Mike) that they had to "chase" the Localizer when this happens! That is to say, if we have over-shot
the Localizer, turn the aircraft back towards the Localizer so that we can LOCK onto it. They agreed! [lol]
|
August 9, 2011
- Fixed a problem where the ACARS Passenger Count (PAX) was not being calculated properly for all aircraft.
- Fixed a problem where the Fly Around The World Status was not being reset when changing to another flight.
- Fixed a problem where the suffix "Heavy" was not being included in the SuperATC call sign properly for all aircraft.
|
August 7, 2011
- Added the voice commands, "Get distance to Entry Point". Michelle will report the distance to the Entry Point when she has been asked to execute
a Visual Approach to a given runway.
- Addressed the situation where, when the IYP application was loaded BEFORE the simulator, some users with slower computers were complaining that IYP was starting too quickly
before all of the necessary aircraft data was in place, and received an IYP error message indicating that the aircraft data could not be read. This has been
fixed.
- Added additional code to support the IYP Virtual Air programme.
- Added the following voice commands to perfect a Fuel Dump...
- Execute emergency fuel dump
- Terminate emergency fuel dump
NOTE: Fuel dumpong is only available inder the following conditions:
- You are flying a Boeing 727, 737 or 747.
- The aircraft's Total Gross Weight exceeds the aircraft's Maximum Landing Weight
- The aircraft os at least 4,000 feet AGL (in the real world this varies based upon operators and governmets)
Michelle will report on the estimated time to complete the fuel dump, and report when it has been completed. Naturally, you can watch the
fuel gauges drop at real-time.
- Modified the code so that the singular use of the phrase... "Execute Going Around" will work in BOTH the ILS and
Visual Approach modes. It is no longer necessary to subsequently say, "Cancel Landing Intentions" in the Visual Approach mode.
- Made substantive improvements to the FSUIPC throughout rate.

July 30, 2011
- Created a facility to Store and Retrieve all IYP Settings during a complete uninstall and reinstall scenario.
Put in other terms, this means you will not be required to re-enter your User Name, E-Mail Address and REGKEY. In addition, ALL
of your previous settings are "remembered". Thanks for the suggestion Pete - Pilot 10988.
- This version contains BETA software for the IYP Virtual Air (IYP-VA) system. Those users interested in participating in the
BETA testing to help us DEBUG the software, are asked to carefully READ all of the information about...
BEFORE experimenting with the system. Yeah I know... you HaTe reading... (LOL)
We will be adding considerably more flights over the coming weeks and months. We'll
be setting up a forum entitled... It's Your Plane Virtual Air... in the Support Forums area.
Any suggestions for IYP-VA routes would be appreciated.
Official Release of IYP-VA:
The official release of the software is slated for August 15, 2011 (we hope), so the more people we can get helping us debug the
software - the better. I thank you in advance. Regards, Robert Cezar.
|
July 17, 2011
- Replaced the Public/Private KEY for the IYP application.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You may be required to COMPLETELY REMOVE the previous IYP version using the...
Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs
facility, then install Version 4.1.0.232 from the IYP Website. This process will
mandate that you RE-REGISTER your IYP software.
- Made changes to further optimize checklist execution and in-flight performance characteristics.
- Permitted to use of "Select one" through "Select zero" in the SuperATC mode at the request of one of our blind pilots.

May 22, 2011
- Added the checklist item..."Are the fuel selectors set to main?"
|
May 21, 2011
- Added the capability to break out of the Ground Pushback sequence by saying the phrase...
Specifically, if you inadvertently responded with "Affirmative" to the query, "Captain, do we require a pushback?",
and Michelle is asking for the pushback distance or direction of pushback, you can say, "Stop Pushback" to cancel
the Ground pushback sequence and exit the checklist.
- Added code to inhibit Michelle from reporting on temperatures in cities as part of the Flight-following Announcements to
passengers, unless the Flight Date = Actual Date. The weather conditions Michelle reports on, are derived from the actual real-time
METAR data from the cities in the area.
So, if the Flight Date is December, 15 and the plane is passing over
Chicago, but the Actual Date is July, 15, we don't want her saying that the temperature is 100 degrees farenheit in the shade,
when there's snow on the ground!
- Fixed a problem where blind and visually impaired (BVI) pilots could not ask Michelle to taxi to a runway at an airport with a LOCAL 3-LETTER ICAO.
- Fixed an inconsistency in the UTC vs. LOCAL time in the ACARS window.
They are now both formatted as [yyyy/mm/dd HH:MM:SS]. Thanks Mike.
- Added the necessary code to support the Fly Around The World sessions.

May 2, 2011
- Interfaced the
Carenado Baron 58 aircraft for use with FSX.
- Fixed a problem with the end of file marker in the aircraft.cfg parser.
- Fixed a problem with SuperATC Non-Towered approach syntax recognition.
- Fixed a problem computing some complex Magnetic Variations.
|
April 15, 2011
- Fixed a problem where erroneous characters in METAR data was returning improper weather reports.
Thanks for the "catch" Laurie.
- Fixed a problem where the releasing of the Push-To-Talk button after calling for a METAR report, was being
held off during the read back, causing the read back audio to be fed back into the microphone input in
environments where loudspeaks are employed. Thanks a lot for the "catch" Pete.
- Added code to prohibit the execution of a Visual Approach with non-supported aircraft.
- When asking Michelle, 'What runways exist?", she begins to rattle off all of the destination airport runways, their length,
surface composition and indicates whether or not ILS facilities exist for the respective runway. In the case of an
airport like O'hare, Vancouver, etc., this report gets VERY LENGTHY, and one had to wait for the completion on
the report in order to carry on. As of this version, the utterance of any phrase, e.g., "Thank you", will immediately
stop the reading of the report.
- Suppressed the sending of ACARS upload confirmations, unless an error exists.
- Added "phrase guarding" to SuperATC mode.
- If you pulled up in front of a Filling Station, then during the Parking
or Shut Down checklists, when you
shut down the engines, the FS simulator would (as expected) automatically fill the fuel tanks.
This caused a problem for the
ACARS system that would garner the newly loaded fuel as the Ending Fuel,
which of course was WRONG! This
has been fixed. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Mike!
- Added software to write the IYP APPLICATION PATH information to a TEXT file entitled:
located in the simulator's root folder (e.g.)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\navlogpath.txt
The information in this file can be used to launch the IYP application from another programme. The information will look something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\MyPC\Local Settings\
Apps\2.0\GKTGOA72.AML\THYHEEMA.PK9\
itsy..tion_58cc786c2f246916_0004.0001_ab8bf347c688d347\ItsYourPlane.exe
NOTE: In a WideFS environment, the navlogpath.txt
file is located in the IYP folder on the CLIENT PC.

- Visual Approaches
Until now, our Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) pilots have had to land their aircraft on runways
equipped with an ILS (Instrument Landing System). However, difficulties arise when
ATC sometimes instructs pilots to land on runways that are not so equipped,
and they are told to make a Visual Approach. Obviously, this has been an impossible manoeuvre for BVI pilots.
As of the release of this version of IYP, Co-Pilots Michelle or Mike, sitting next to their BVI captain,
can now perform a visual approach on any runway. Naturally, our sighted users can also use this new IYP facility.
Please refer to the Flight Deck Doc for usage details.
NOTE: This feature is NOT available in the FREE IYP version.
- Interfaced the Project Airbus A320-200 (A322) for both
FS9
and FSX.
- Relaxed the Throttle Closed parameters for the RealAir Cessna C172 Skyhawk.
- Fixed a problem where the ROUTE data was not being loaded into the ACARS window with
Flight Plans created in FS9.
- Interfaced the
Carenado C340 aircraft for use with FSX.
- Interfaced the Florida Air Express POSKY CRJ-900 aircraft for use with FS9.
- Added code to suppress
Flight-Following Announcements
while in the process of developing an IYP Tour
in the IYP Tour Designer.
- Modified the code to pull the aircraft's Flight Number from the ROUTE.BIN CALLSIGN declaration,
instead of the AIRCRAFT.CFG file for the
Project Magenta interface.
- A senior IYP user suggested that Michelle should automatically set the Course to the runway heading
after being asked to "Load the ILS Approch Frequency" for a given runway. That
seemed to make a lot of sense... so it's been implemented. Thanks John.
- Added the female voice font "Emma" to be recognised as "Michelle"
NOT "Mike".
- A user wrote... "It would be nice to here a welcome to your destination announcement
either during or after the taxi to the gate checklist." This has been implemented in this release.
Thanks for the suggestion Jeff.

- Fixed a problem where the "Comment Filtering" of CFG files was failing.
- Added additional variations of the Co-Pilot (First Officer) passenger announcements for commercial aircraft.
- Interfaced the Aerosoft DHC-2 Beaver for FS9.
Added special voice commands to address both Early and Modern
panel configurations.
Asking Michelle...
"What are the window names?"
with an aircraft of the Early panel configuration, will have her respond with...
"The window names are:"
"Early full panel"
"Early VFR panel"
"Modern full panel"
"Modern VFR panel"
"Radio stack"
"RPM panel"
"GPS"
Asking Michelle...
"What are the window names?"
with an aircraft of the Modern panel configuration, will have her respond with...
"The window names are:"
"Full panel"
"VFR panel"
"Radio stack"
"RPM panel"
"GPS"
Therefore, with an aircraft of the Early panel configuration, you'd say something like:
"Bring up the Early VFR panel"
whereas, with an aircraft of the Modern panel configuration, you'd simply say:

- Turn-Arounds and Continuing Flights
Let's say you're the Captain piloting Pacifica, Flight Number 1123, (Call Sign Pacifica 1123) and you've just arrived at Vancouver International airport (CYVR)
from Seattle's SEATAC airport (KSEA). After touch-down, you've contacted Vancouver Ground and they've assigned you a gate number. Your trusty IYP Co-Pilot
works with you to execute the Taxi-to-the-Gate checklist, and upon reaching the gate, you call for the Parking checklist. After executing the Parking checklist with
your Co-Pilot (First Officer), the doors are now open, and after waiting a few minutes, you'll note by the lack of cabin chatter that all of the passengers have
successfully disembarked. The APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) is still running, the Cabin Music is still playing, the Navigation lights are still on, etc.
How do you perform a Turn-Around or Continue to another airport? This can now be done with this new IYP version.
For information please refer to the IYP Flight Deck Doc.
- Interfaced the Airbus A380 by AFS-Design
- Interfaced the Airbus A380 Cargo by AFS-Design
AFS-Design Airbus A380 LOUD Sounds:
Since the sounds for the Airbus A380 are pre-recorded background sound files, there's no easy way to lower the volume via the Flight Simulator application and/or the Windows volume mixer. So to normalize a few of these WAV files so that the volume level would not interfere with other sound volume levels (like IYP and the Microsoft ATC), one of our Senior IYP pilots (#12423) has re-mixed them. NOTE: All of the sound files are duplicated in every sound folder of very aircraft variation, so the WAV files contained in this ZIP file should be copied to the aircraft\sound folder of the A380 for each variation of the AFS-Design Airbus A380.
We suggest making a copy of the original files first in case something goes wrong :)
It's always a good idea to extract any ZIP file to a temporary folder before copying the results to the destination folder just to be safe and to see exactly what is being copied!
Good luck and enjoy! Remi, IYP Pilot #12423

December 11, 2010
- When the aircraft's airspeed drops below the aircraft manufacturer's specifications, Michelle begins
repeating the phrase
"Captain, our airspeed is below aircraft specifications"
To acknowledge the Warning condition and have Michelle stop NAGGING you, you can say...
"The warning has been acknowledged"
NOTES: This state is NOT "remembered" session-to-session, or flight-to-flight.
- Finished addressing the application of the brake upon landing in version 4.1.0.213. Ooppssss!!!
- Interfaced the Southwest Boeing 737-700 by Project Opensky

- When Michelle is AUTO-LANDING an aircraft, she automatically taps the brakes to slow the aircraft
after touchdown. Pursuant to a customer request that Michelle NOT tap the brakes, I have implemented the following voice commands:
"Apply landing brakes ON"
"Apply landing brakes OFF"
NOTES: The default setting is set to ON. Changes made to this mode of operation are "remembered" session-to-session.
- We have interfaced the Carenado:
- FSX Cessna C206 Stationair Amphibian plane by Carenado
- FSX Cessna C206 Stationair Cargo plane by Carenado
- FSX Cessna C206 Stationair Passenger plane by Carenado
Please see the Supported Aircraft section.

November 27, 2010
- As of this release, when the It's Your Plane programme launches, and any of the following conditions prevail while using SuperATC:
- You're flying Free-Flight without a filed flight plan and there is no airport Tower
- You have created and filed a VFR flight plan and there is no airport Tower
- You are departing from a Water based airport, even with a filed IFR flight plan
then Michelle will tell you how to address the local traffic by saying something like...
"Captain. You can reference the local traffic with, 'Chilliwack traffic', or, 'Charlie, Yankee, Charlie, Whiskey, traffic' "
If you missed the announcement, you can get her to repeat it at any time by asking her...
"How do i reference the local traffic?"
- When approaching the destination airport while flying in the "Free-Form", or "VFR Flight plan" modes with SuperATC, about 40 miles out, Michelle will say...
"I need to do some calculations. I'll be with you shortly"
Michelle is actually mapping all of the airports in a 50-miles radius of the aircraft, looking for information relative to the destination airport. If you need Michelle
to repeat this process, simply say...
"Michelle, map the local airports"
CAUTIONARY NOTE: This procedure can take up to a few minutes to complete with slower PCs. During this time, Michelle will neither respond to any commands, nor
make any reports.
- Fixed a SuperATC problem where the wrong airport was being accessed when only FSS communications prevailed when flying Free-Form or VFR.
- The system now DISABLES the Speech Engine during the period of time when Michelle is perfoming calculations as the aircraft approaches the destination
airport in the Free-Flight and VFR modes using SuperATC.
|
November 19, 2010
- Fixed a problem when using the SuperATC mode of ATC communications,
where the ATC window was not popping up to accept commands
with the Pop Ups active when issuing the command:
"Repeat command confirmation"
|
November 11, 2010
- Fixed a SuperATC problem where the system was not automatically
picking up the correct origination airport when two (or more) airports
were in very close proximity on a Latitude/Longitude basis.
With this fix, when the system cannot automatically and positively determine the origination airport, the system will ask that you
specify the origination airport by ICAO code upon start up.
|
November 9, 2010
- Provided the ability to set the Heading in flight WITHOUT automatically and
simutaneously engaging the Auto-Pilot,
through the use of the command:
"Preset heading to [HEADING]"
- Further reduced the time when Michelle says...
"Captain, I need to do some calculations."
from less than 40 miles from the destination airport, to less than 30 miles from the destination airport
when using SuperATC in the non-IFR mode of ATC to accomodate slower PCs.
- Fixed a problem where waypoints callouts were being pronounced as literal words, instead of NATO phonetic expressions.
- Fixed a problem where throttle ganging was failing when Michelle is asked to "Maintain Taxi Speed".
|
November 4, 2010
- Fixed a problem where IFR generated Flight Plans created with FS9, where incorrectly setting the ATC mode
to VFR when loaded into FSX.
- Interfaced the Quest Kodiak aircraft
(see Supported Aircraft and Checklists)
- Fixed the pronouciation of Lima (Lie Ma), to (Lee Ma).
- Added a facility for our Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) pilots, where Michelle will report the "Current Heading"
after a command to change heading has been executed. For example, if the current heading is 060, and the Captain
says, 'Turn right heading 150", then when the aircraft stabilizes on a heading of 150, Michelle will say,
"Current heading 150".
- Added the ability to alter the SuperATC Call Sign by placing an entry in the aircraft's configuaration file. Please
refer to the section entitled:
on PAGE 33 of the Flight Deck Doc located here:

- Created an inter-character delay when reading back the aircraft's
Call Sign upon asking Michelle, "What is our call sign?"
- Changed the...
"Captain, I need to do some calculations."
from less than 50 miles from the destination airport, to less than 40 miles from the destination airport
when using SuperATC in the non-IFR mode of ATC.
- Changed the...
"Captain, you may wish to switch to the [ICAO Name] tower at this time."
from less than 25 miles out, to less then 22 miles out for those users whose PCs are a tad slower than the norm,
when using SuperATC in the non-IFR mode of ATC.
- Added new facilities to specifically declare the aircraft manufacturer's name
in accordance with ICAO naming conventions.
- Removed the cruising altitude restrictions on Michelle conducting SuperATC airport distance calculations
when the Altitude Hold is disabled.
- Fixed Progressive Taxi ON/OFF commands after landing.

- Fixed a problem when detecting non-standard located Flight Plans in WideFS mode.
- Added a facility to ensure that you are communicating with ATC in the Simple ATC mode
when connecting to a Come Fly With Me session.
|
September 9, 2010
- Fixed a problem where cities with "St" as an abbreviation for "Saint", were being pronounced as "Street"
during the Flight-Following announcements.
- Pursuant to a request by Pilot#12464 in the Support Forum post:
Michelle no longer turns the Landing Lights ON when climbing through 10,000 feet AGL, rather she
simply issues the notification...
It's up to you to then say,
or simply flip the switch manually. Similarly, when descending below 10,000 feet AGL, Michelle will
issue the same notification.
- FSX Fuel Calculations Cannot be Performed -
Some users install their simulators in a non-standard configuration which can result in restricting access to certain files necessary
for Michelle to compute fuel consumption and/or to properly load information into the ACARS template.
In these cases, the user needs to create a small text file that will provide the
path to these files. Please refer to the section entitled:
FSX Fuel Calculations Cannot be Performed
in the Flight Deck Doc for details. Thank you.

September 2, 2010
I've been very busy working my way down the TO DO list:
- Perform Fuel Loading Operations!
I've added the ability to have Michelle/Mike auto-load the requisite fuel for the trip. This feature has been designed
specifically to assist our Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) pilots, however sighted pilots can obviously take advantage of this new feature as well.
The Microsoft Flight Simulators were clearly not designed for BVI pilots.
Trying to properly set the values in the Payload area is a real nightmare for sighted pilots - it's nearly
impossible for our BVI crew because of the limitations of their screen readers. The algorithms involved needed to address
such things as taxiing delays, un-planned headwinds, diversions to an Alternate airport, Go-Arounds, etc. The system
"learns" your set up and adjusts the values over time in order to optimize its performance and accuracy.
- Maintaining an Optimised Airspeed -
As part of the Takeoff and Climbout checklists with jetliners, Michelle will ask if you'd like her to maintain an optimised airspeed
throughout the flight. If you answer in the affirmative, she will maintain 250 knots below 10,000 feet at the aircraft's
default rate-of-climb...typically 1,800 feet per minute. Once the aircraft climbs above 10,000 feet AGL, she will gradually begin to
increase the airspeed, and contempoaneously increase the rate of ascent, in order to climb to the planned cruising level as quickly
as possible so as to maximize fuel efficiency. As the aircraft climbs to higher levels, she'll maintain an airspeed of approximately
11% below the "barberpole" while she maintains the optimum engine thrust by monitoring N1. She'll automatically decrease the
rate of climb as needed. This feature controls for simpler aircraft designs, what an FMC manages on more sophisticated payware
aircraft with its Level Change function.
NOTE:
If you alter the rate of climb, Michelle will state that she's no longer controlling the airspeed. To have her take
control once again, say... "I'd like you to control the speed".
- Controlling the Rate of Descent - If Michelle is controlling the airspeed (see above), then during descent she will automatically
control the rate of descent by using the current ground speed, the distance to the destination airport, and a targeted altitude
of 2,000 feet AGL, to calculate the optimum rate of descent. As the ground speed decreases, the rate of descent will also decrease. This
facility is part of the procedures needed in order to optimise fuel efficiency.
NOTE:
If you alter the rate of descent, Michelle will state that she's no longer controlling the airspeed. To have her take
control once again, say... "I'd like you to control the speed".
- In response to a user request, we've implemented a new voice command:
This facility provides an absolutely accurate distance of the actual nautical miles flown by the aircraft, as
compared to a typical GPS unit that simply provides waypoint to waypoint distances. For example, if you take off
from Seattle, WA (KSEA) from Runway 16L en route to Bellingham, WA (KBLI), you need to fly "runway heading"
until ATC instructs you to turn to a heading of 340. To fly this maneuver adds about 35 miles to the trip. Then,
ATC may instruct you to land on Runway 16 at KBLI. You need to fly downwind, then base, then onto final.
Here again, this adds about 35 miles to the overall trip. Depending upon the aircraft being flown, this can be
significant when calculating fuel consumption. Naturally, this also takes into account diversons from a planned course.
Incidentally, this method of accumulative mileage is the Distance that IYP uses in the
ACARS and
PIREP files.
- Removed the in-flight messages from Michelle reporting GPS waypoints:
"Crossing over SALAD. Distance to next waypoint......"
when flying in NAV/VOR mode of flight; i.e. now only works when flying GPS mode!
- In response to another user request, we've implemented as part of the... "Folks, we've reached our cruising altitude...",
the following information: e.g.
"Our current ground speed is 729 kilometers per hour, or 453 miles per hour."
- In response to a user request, we've implemented a new feature that when you ask Michelle to control the air speed
in an aircraft that does not have an auto-throttle (e.g. Cessna Skyhawk, Baron 58, Cessna Caravan, etc.), Michelle
will automatically control the Rate of Climb in order to maintain the optimal airspeed during ascent... just as she
does with the jetliners.
NOTE:
This feature is only available in the REGISTERED versions of IYP... NOT the FREE version.
- Another user requested that we eliminate the Flight-Following announcements IF the descent checklist
is being performed, and the altitude above ground (AGL) is less then 10,000 feet. The rationale for this change is that
it's far too busy a time for the First Officer to be making announcements to the passengers!
- Yet another user suggested that the phrase Michelle makes while on approach, "Auto-Landing procedures in effect"
is far too formal. He suggested Michelle would actually say,..."Captain, I'll handle the landing. It's my plane." And,
so it has become. Great suggestion by the way! Thanks Randy.
- We were asked by another user to add a feature where he could ask Michelle for directions to the
airport. So, being the good citizens that we are, we've added the voice command:
"Get directions to the airport."
Michelle responds with (e.g.):
"The airport's at our three o'clock - ten miles."
Another nice addition. Thanks Bill.
- We were asked by yet another user to add a feature where he could extend or retract the jetway in FSX!
That sounded like a wonderful idea, so we've added the voice commands:
"Extend Jetway."
"Retract Jetway."
Thank you Peter.
- Fixed a problem where Michelle was offering to land the aircraft on NON-ILS approaches. Yikes!
- If you pulled up in front of a Filling Station, then during the Parking Checklist when you
shut down the engines, the FS simulator would (as expected) automatically fill the fuel tanks. This caused a problem for the
ACARS system that would garner the newly loaded fuel as the Ending Fuel,
which of course was WRONG! This
has been fixed. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Mike!
- Added a feature that automatically loads the Passenger Count (PAX) in the ACARS form, based upon using the average weight
of 170 pounds per person in the payload areas of the aircraft.
NOTE: This ACARS value can still be over-written through the use of the phrase...
"Passenger count equals...", followed by a 3 digit number. e.g., "Passenger count equals zero, zero, four", for 4 PAX in a Learjet.
- Added Set Com2 to the Emergency Frequency of 121.5 to the checklists.
- Prohibited the phrase "Climb and maintain ????" to a lower altitude.
- Prohibited the phrase "Descend and maintain ????" to a higher altitude.
- Flight-Following Announcements -
In response to numerous requests from our Blind Pilots, Michelle now follows the City name with the State name during the
Flight-Following Announcements, when crossing over state lines.
Similarly, Nichelle now follows the City name with the Country name when crossing over country borders. I also
increased the frequency of the Flight-Following announcements in the Blind Pilot mode.
- Fixed a problem where the First Officer Seat Belts ON/OFF callouts, where interrupting Flight-Following
announcements.
- Added the constraint that the First Office will only say... "If you tune to channel 7 on your headset,
I will be pointing out places of interest throughout our flight" on jetliners, if the top of climb (cruising) altitude
is greater than 20,000' (FL200).
- In the past, IYP executed a number of Descent Checklist items when the aircraft was descending below 10,000 feet in preparation
for landing, like Landing Lights, Auto-Spoilers, Verifying Fuel Quantity, etc. This became problematic when descending into an
airport at higher alititudes, because it conflicted with the execution of the Approach and Landing checklists. Therefore, these
items are now executed at an altitude AGL, which is the greater of 10,000 feet, or 8,000 feet AGL. So, for example, when
approaching Colorado Springs, CO, USA, where the airport elevation is 6,148 feet, these prepatory descent checklist items
will be called out a approximately (6,148 + 8,000), or... 14,148 feet.
- Thanks to a suggestion made by Mike, Pilot# 11339, when Michelle says, "Locked on the Localizer" during Approach
and Landing, she sets the HDG (heading) to that of the Runway's Course. This better facilitates the process
of issuing the "Execute Going Around" command, by keeping the aircraft flying the Runway Heading until ATC
provides a new bearing. Thanks Mike.
- Added the restriction that only permits the "Execute Going Around" command to be issued during Approach and Landing.
Thanks again Mike.

- We've fixed a problem that existed when a user employs two yoke buttons; one as an IYP Microphone Switch, and
the other to communicate with fellow pilots on the
Come Fly With Me system via TeamSpeak.
- In response to a user request, we've implemented two new voice commands:
- Deactivate Heading Control
- Activate Heading Control
This particular IYP user has an MCP that is neither configured to work with normal FSUIPC nor Project Magenta offsets
for the MCP Heading. The user enjoys using SuperATC
and wants to continue saying instructions like:
- "Turn right heading 250"
- "American 5114 Heavy"
but only have the foregoing acknowledge ATC instructions - NOT actually attempt to change the heading.
|
July 27, 2010
- In response to a user suggestion, we have moved the Safety Announcements from the Before Tax checklist,
to the end of the Start Up checklists.
- In response to a user request, we've implemented two new voice commands:
- Activate General Aviation Flight Following
- Deactivate General Aviation Flight Following
Michelle normally communicates only with you (the Captain) when making Flight Following announcements
during a flight in a General Aviation (GA) aircraft.
This of course presumes that only the two of you are in the aircraft. If however, you have
passengers sitting in the back with headsets (tuned to channel 7 [LOL]), you may want Michelle explaining
to them what they can see from the left and right sides of the aircraft. This facility accomplishes this task.

July 13, 2010
- There was a DIGITAL SIGNING issue with Version 4.1.0.195 that caused some users problems.
Users running operating systems with Dot Net versions below 3.x, may be required to uninstall and reinstall IYP. Sorry... this is a Microsoftism! :(
|

|
- Project Magenta:
- Removed no flight plan loaded report before FMC has been programmed.
|
- Added the phrases "Activate door operations" and "Deactivate door operations" to handle situations where users
are running applications like FSPassengers in parallel with IYP. Prior to this implementation, IYP automatically opens the doors
when the pre-flight checklist is called for, or when executing a restart with the phrase, "Restart cold and dark". By saying,
"Deactivate door operations", IYP will NOT open the doors. NOTE:
This state is "remembered" and remains in effects
during subsequent restarts of the IYP programme.
- Added code to address the inability for some users to have their speech recognition system detect the word... "Zulu".
- Removed the automatic issuance of the "Acknowledge" to Radar Contact after saying,
"We have IFR Clearance", "We have Taxi Clearance", "We have Takeoff Clearance" so as to provide
more flexibility in a less structured environment. NOTE:
The IYP User Manual has been updated to reflect these changes.
- Project Magenta:
- Removed auto-cruise level detection.
- Removed auto-descent detection.
These modifications permit the execution of the After Takeoff, Cruise and Descent checklists at any time during the
flight without restrictions. NOTE: After making these changes, the system does not automatically sequence the
checklist procedures. i.e., they are to be invoked at will by the Captain. In addition, all F/O announcements to the
passengers during the various in-flight activities have been removed as well.
|
- In response to customer requests, a new Manage Settings facility is available for REGISTERED IYP USERS ONLY.
This permits the management of the IYP system settings without the need to have the simulator running.
|
- Added additional features to the IYP Tours system.
|
- Added the Speech Recognition selection "Microsoft English (U.S.) v6.1 Recognizer" that is bundled in the
Microsoft Office package for XP, as an acceptable alternative to the
typical Microsoft SDK version, "Microsoft English Recognizer v5.1".

"IFR clearance to Charlie Yankee Victor Romeo"
"Ready to copy"
|
- Added Audible Feedback of the IYP and simulator status when using the phrases,
"Open Settings Panel" and "Close Settings Panel" for our Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) pilots.
Upon opening the Settings Panel via the foregoing voice command, the system reports,
"The simulator has been minimized. The settings panel has been opened, and is now in view."
When closing the Settings Panel through the use of a voice command, the system reports,
"The settings panel has been closed, the simulator has been restored and is now in view."
|

- Added "Transponder Set?" query to Takeoff and Climbout checklist.
- Changed the phrase... "Attention FLIGHT crew. You can begin passenger boarding at this time" to...
"Attention CABIN crew. You can begin passenger boarding at this time".
This issue was brought to our attention by Pilot#: 13352. We thank you.
- Made a change that permits the parking brakes to be applied as part of the Taxi to the Gate/Ramp checklist,
without provoking Michelle to say, "You may wish to say your ACARS data at this time." Rather, she now waits
until the brakes are applied and the Parking checklist has been performed.
- Added support for the
Carenado Piper Arrow IV for FSX.
- Suppress and Permit Sound Effects - At the request of one of our users, we have implemented a facility where
you can suppress or permit sound effects, either by voice command, by saying:
- Suppress sound effects
- Permit sound effects
or by placing/removing the checkmark in the checkbox entitled: Suppress FX on the IYP Control Panel.
When suppression is in effect, all communications with the Passengers are suppressed, leaving Michelle or Mike
speaking to you and the cabin crew only. This mode remains in effect even when IYP is closed and restarted.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE ***
The Auto-Update was inadvertently turned off in Version 4.1.0.161
by yours truly. As a result, running the
application by clicking on the desktop icon, or from your Start > Robert Cezar > It's Your Plane
will NOT update your software... mea culpa :)
You will need to click on the INSTALL SYSTEM icon on the Home Page to upgrade your software
to this revision. If after installing Version 4.1.0.163 you do not have an IYP icon on your desktop,
then I'm afraid that you'll need to remove the IYP programme via the Control Panel > Add or Remove programs,
then reinstall IYP. The Auto-Update has been turned back on, so this will not be an issue in
subsequent revisions. Sorry... my bad!
- Added the voice commands:
- "Audible command confirmations on", and
- "Audible command confirmations off".
When active, it emits an audible beep to indicate that a command has been properly accepted by the IYP system.
- Added the phrase "ACARS INCOMPLETE" to the print out when ACARS does not finish logging the entire flight
due to a crash or your spouse calling you for dinner!
- Project Magenta:
Fixed a problem with the aircraft call sign not being loaded into the speech recognition assembly.
- Project Magenta:
Fixed a problem where a decimal or point was inadvertently being expressed in the middle of millibars readbacks. e.g.,
"Altimeter one zero decimal one three", instead of "Altimeter one zero one three".
|
- Modifications made to add support for the Douglas DC-4.

along with the Retry Number.
- Added a facility that automatically saves INCOMPLETE ACARS logging information to the ACARS folder
under the IYPLogs folder, in the event of a CRASH!
- Project Magenta:
Fixed the failure for the Request IFR Clearance query to be called out during the
Pre-Flight checklist.
- Project Magenta:
Fixed a QNH error in the STD mode.
|
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Changed the Control Key Assignments
of CTRL+SHIFT+TAB+A that has been used for the Auto-Feather,
to CTRL+SHIFT+TAB+F to avoid conflict with the general assignment of
CTRL+SHIFT+TAB+A for the APU.
- Fixed the problem where the confirmation of the ACARS logging system being started at the
commencement of the Before Startup checklist, happens immediately after affirmation. For
an overview of the ACARS system, click here.
- Fixed a problem where the read back of Call Sign information for Beechcraft aircraft was using
Beechcraft instead of simply Beech in the SuperATC mode.
- Added distance to airport callout for 18 miles on approach.
- Added test to ensure a Tail Number exists, else a warning is issued.
- Added test to ensure a Flight Number exists for commercial flights, else a warning is issued.
- Introducing IYP Central -
For those of you who have been asking for this facility for some time now, I have
some good news! I have finally added the IYP Central feature. Please excuse the delay.
IYP Central is much like the Come Fly With Me feature in many respects. The primary difference
is that in this configuration, non IYP users can send an Instant Message
to pilots in flight, requesting that the pilot connect to
IYP Central to converse. Naturally, this facility can also be used by IYPers who are in flight to
contact another pilot without having to invoke the Multiplayer mode. This means that you can continue
flying your IFR flight plan and converse with others... both on the ground, and in the air.
In addition, IYP pilots can now use IYP Central to contact Robert, Lars, and other avid IYPers while
in flight, to ask questions... that is, if we're awake and online! The IYP Central facility is ON by default
with new installations and upgrades, but can be
turned ON/OFF with new voice commands... (see below).
Please click on the Flight Tracker icon on the IYP Website for more details. Thanks.
- Added the voice commands, "Activate Selective Calling" and "Deactivate Selective Calling"
to support activating and deactivating the IYP Central facility.
- Added SelCall checkbox on the IYP Control Panel which performs the same function as
the voice commands shown above.
|
|
- We had one of our blind pilots request that we add a voice command that permit the aircraft
to be moved (slewed) to the assigned departure runway, and hold short. The commands are now, as an example...
"Michelle let's taxi to runway 34 right."
"Mike let's taxi to runway 34 right."
and/or,
"Michelle let's taxi to and hold short of runway 34 right."
"Mike let's taxi to and hold short of runway 34 right."
NOTE: The "hold short" voice commands pulls the aircraft
short of the runway on the apron. This ensures that we don't
drop the aircraft on top of another on the taxiway.
In this apron position, it is NOT on the runway as far as ATC in concerned.
- Made modifications that now preclude the CoPilot from barging in with a Flight Following Announcement during any checklist
that is then being executed.
- Project Magenta:
- Implemented a facility to strip the 3-character IATA code (if present) and retain only the Flight Number
from the ROOT.BIN file. The airline information continues to be pulled from the drop down
list on the Cockpit Control panel.
- Implemented the CoPilot offering to execute the ACARS system, if ACARS is active and all of the requisite
conditions prevail at the start of the Before Startup Checklist.
- Fixed a problem that was failing to operate properly on the issuance of the alternative to the "Acknowledge"
voice command, namely... "Copy"... followed by the Long or Short form Callsign. e.g., "Copy, Speedbird 152",
"Copy, 152" respectively.
- Radar Contact:
- If "Acknowledge ATC Responses" feature is active, then in response to an ATC instruction to ascend or descend
to a specific altitude, the speaking of, for example, "Climb and maintain eight thousand", or
"Decend and maintain five thousand", etc., will also send an acknowledgement to RC.
- If "Acknowledge ATC Responses" feature is active, then in response to an ATC instruction to change
to a new heading, the speaking of, for example, "Turn right heading 150", or
"Making the heading 265", etc., will also send an acknowledgement to RC.
- If "Acknowledge ATC Responses" feature is active, then in response to an ATC instruction to change
to the frequency of a different controller, the speaking of, for example, "Going to 127 decimal 25", or
"Going to 121 point 75", will change the frequency of NAV1, send an acknowledgement to RC,
then automatically contact the next controller.

- Fixed a problem where the Cabin Music and PAX chatter was not being turned off when
execting the Takeoff checklist under certain conditions.
- The checklist queries "Captain, are the engine areas clear?" and
"Have you received the Salute-Release signal?" are now side-stepped for aircraft
where a push back sequence is in effect. If the aircraft is not performing a push back sequence, then
the queries are called for during the checklist call outs as normal.
- Moved the "Get weather" and "Request IFR Clearance" queries ahead of the FMC programming
in the Pre-Flight checklist for the
Project Magenta edition.
- Removed the test to confirm that the aircraft's GPS location is within a 5-mile distance of the Departure airport
to satisfy the prerequisite conditions for starting the ACARS logging process
with aircraft that do not support the Garmin GPS system.
|
- Improved the detection of "Descend and Maintain" in the speech processing.
- Made improvements in the IYP Tours message handling.
|
- Adopted... "After takeoff checklist" over "Climbout checklist" and fixed inconsistencies
for the Project Magenta version.
- Added the phrase... "Fly heading { DIGIT } { DIGIT } { DIGIT }", (e.g., "Fly heading zero niner five")
- When using the ADVANCED MODE to speed up checklist procdures, we've added the
ability for you to say "Resume checklist" in the midst of a checklist to continue. This has the same
effect as saying, "Say again", or "Please continue".
- Added the voice commands:
"Reset Gyro"
"Reset Heading Indicator"
both of which reset the Gyro.
- Made changes so that the gyro is automatically reset after Michelle slews into position and hold.
|
- Radar Contact ATC - Changed "Monitor tower" to emit CTRL+SHIFT+7, instead of CTRL+SHIFT+1.
This alteration permits you to say, "Monitor tower" followed by, "Tune to the tower" as a more
natural sequence.
- Radar Contact ATC - Added the phrase, "Over to next controller" which emits CTRL+SHIFT+O (letter O).
This will send an
acknowledge hand off, then tune to new frequency and make contact. For those users who wish to do the
procedure in two steps, we can now say, "Acknowledge hand off" which emits CTRL+SHIT+7, followed by
the existing voice command "Contact next control", which emits CTRL+SHIT+1 that will then tune to the
new frequency and make contact.
- Radar Contact ATC - A number of users have been experiencing problems with the singular phrase,
"Acknowledge" being properly interpretted by the speech recognition server.
In addition, it is not a terribly realistic ATC command. Therefore, we have implemented
the same acknowledgement functionality by issuing the phrases...
COMMERCIAL: Speedbird 1123
"Copy {FLIGHTNUMBER}" (e.g. "Copy 1123")
"Copy {AIRLINEATC} {FLIGHTNUMBER}" (e.g. "Copy Speedbird 1123")
GENERAL AVIATION: Cessna C-IYPT
"Copy {MANUFACTURER} {SHORTTAILNUMBER}" (e.g. "Copy Cessna YPT")
"Copy {MANUFACTURER} {TAILNUMBER}" (e.g. "Copy Cessna CIYPT")
NOTE: To get callsign information, ask of Michelle, "What is our callsign?"
NOTE: The callsign information is derived from
the simulator's aircraft data... NOT from Radar Contact.
In Project Magenta installations, the information is pulled from the External Cockpit panel settings.
- Fixed a problem where clicking the X (top right corner) of the Waiting for Simulator window, left an
instance of the IYP / SuperATC application running in the background.
- Added OBS voice confirmations (see Version 4.1.0.149)
- Modified the IYP system such that CoPilot checklist commands are not repeated in the Advanced Mode.
In this case, saying the phrase, "Say again" to Michelle / Mike will cause her/him to restate
the checklist item.
- Project Magenta - Added facilities to have the ROUTE.BIN data periodically re-read during flight.
|
- Added exciting new functionality to the Radar Contact interface.
- Fixed the problem with the PMDG throwing Error 1561 in WideFS mode.
- Fixed the problem with the FSX Views and the PopUp checkbox cross-coupling in WideFS mode.
- Fixed a Timer1 error being thrown due to null value in certain Climbout checklists.
- Added a voice command to permit setting the Alternate Destination ICAO for ACARS.
- Added a voice command to permit setting the Passenger (PAX) count for ACARS.
- Added a facility that automatically loads the values "RC" or "SuperATC" in the
ACARS ATC dropdown list, based upon the ATC system being used.
The ATC dropdown list can still be set manually when flying Vatsim, IVAO, etc.
|
- Made changes to permit the application to operate in both 96 DPI and 120 DPI modes.
- Changed the "Takeoff and Climbout checklists" nominclature to "Climbout checklist" for
Project Magenta version.
- Fixed another parsing problem in METAR data for the
"Get the weather for [ICAO]" command.
- Extended default nag delay during the start up checklist for "Confirming oil pressure number X" for the
Level-D 767-300ER.
- Changes made to the ACARS system,
such that the ACARS window no longer automatically appear
upon the command "Start ACARS logging". To view your ACARS data, simply say, "Bring up ACARS window."
To close the ACARS window say, "Kill ACARS window."
|
- Fixed a parsing problem in METAR data for the "Get the weather for [ICAO]" command.
|
- Added the following voice commands for controlling OBS:
- Set nav 1 O B S to {DEGREES}
- Set nav 2 O B S to {DEGREES}
- Rotate nav 1 O B S to center
- Rotate nav 1 O B S from center
- Rotate nav 2 O B S to center
- Rotate nav 2 O B S from center
|
- Fixed waiting for EGT delay for
Project Magenta version.
- Fixed Timer1 error on Startup Checklist for certain types of aircraft.
|
- Fixed an error in "Resume Checklists" that bypassed the Takeoff and Climbout checklists for
Project Magenta version.
- Fixed the Nag Delay being overwritten in checklist queries.
- Improper top of climb altitude passenger announcement being reached with step-climbing has been addressed.
|
- Fixed an error in the Before Startup checklist when Top of Climb Altitude was not specified.
|
- Added a new facility where your Co-Pilot will now ask you if you'd like to start ACARS LOGGING
at the commencement of the Startup Checklist... as in:
"Captain, do you wish to start the ACARS logging system at this time?"
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you install this version and you
typically run IYP in the OFFLINE mode, please ensure that you
switch to the ONLINE mode at least once to download the new checklists.
- Fixed FMC route data errors in ACARS for
Project Magenta version.
|
|
- Added the FMC and ACARS interface for the
Project Magenta version.
- Maintain Taxi Speed:
As you likely know, IYP was designed to slow down the taxi speed when making turns during taxi.
However, this reduction in engine thrust really only happens as the turning is perfected.
As you are also aware, touching the brakes serves to cancel the Auto-Taxi facility. IYP Pilot # 10988 suggested that
I adopt a nominal delay before cancelling the Auto-Taxi facility upon braking. This permits the tapping
of the brakes inbound to a turn while taxiing, without cancelling the Auto-Taxi facility.
Whew... I hope this is clear.
- Made changes to the Engine Ignition routine for the
Project Magenta version.
|
|
- During checklist call outs by your Co-Pilot, the default delay has historically been set to 10 seconds
before he/she repeats the question. The DEFAULT value of 10 seconds remains. However, we have added
a facility that allows you to alter the delay time before the Co-Pilot repeats the checklist query:
"Make the nag delay 10 seconds"
"Make the nag delay 15 seconds"
"Make the nag delay 20 seconds"
"Make the nag delay 30 seconds"
"Make the nag delay 45 seconds"
"Make the nag delay 60 seconds"
This values is "remembered" on subsequent re-starts of the IYP application.
- Removed Captain's the view change during the Taxi Checklist in the Project Magenta version.
- Removed Captain's the view change during the Taxi Checklist unless in 2-D cockpit mode.
- Blocked "Verify Fuel Quantity" command in the Project Magenta version.
- The Co-Pilot callout "flare" removed for all but General Aviation aircraft during approach and landing.

- Added adaptive routines to optimize speech recognition CPU consumption based upon the number of processors
in the system, and available memory heap.
|
- Fixed a problem with the Cockpit Voice Recorder transcript files in the WideFS mode.
|
- Pursuant to a customer suggestion, I've changed the system such that when running in the ONLINE
and the system is placed in an inactive state for an extended length of time, or the system loses communications with
our servers, it now simply switches to the OFFLINE mode, instead of closing the application.
- Made further tweaks to the taxiing algorithms for the CRJ-700.
|
-

- We have added a CAT IIIc Auto-Landing system. When using this system,
the IYP flight control computer will continue to accept deviations from the localizer and use the rudder to maintain
the aircraft on the localizer. For aircraft so equipped, upon landing, the spoilers will deploy automatically and the aircraft's
auto-brake system will apply the brakes. Otherwise, differential braking is applied by the IYP flight control computer.
Also if so equipped, reverse thrust will be applied to quickly decelerate the aircraft and the anti-skid system will
modulate brake pressure to keep all wheels turning. As the speed decreases, the rudder will lose effectiveness and you will need
to control the direction of the airplane using the yoke once the auto-pilot is disengaged.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Please refer to the Aircraft Section (link in menu bar above) for the current aircraft that support the CAT IIIc system.
- To activate/deactivate the IYP CAT IIIc Auto-Landing system, say... "Activate Auto-Landing",
"Deactivate Auto-Landing" respectively. This is a "remembered" state
and will remain in this mode for all flights and on a complete re-start of IYP.
- The runway being approached must be equipped with full ILS facilities.
- Inform Michelle of the destination airport by saying, "Make the destination airport...", followed by the ICAO.
Then ask Michelle to load the ILS approach frquency for the assigned runway by saying, for example,
"Load the ILS approach frequency for runway 26 left." Next, have Michelle call out the Approach and Landing
checklists by saying, "Let's do the Approach and Landing checklists". When Michelle asks, "Would you like me
to assist you?", respond in the affirmative... then let her do her thing!
- If you are flyng a General Aviation (GA) type aircraft (e.g. Cessna Skyhawk), by sure to ask Michelle to
control the airspeed by saying, for example, "Airspeed one zero five.". She will respond with, "Roger. Airspeed
one zero five. I will maintain this airspeed until you touch the brakes, or say, 'I'll control the speed'."
- As in the real world, when performing a CAT IIIc approach, the crew MUST be prepared to intervene in the event of
wind shear, sudden cross winds, etc.
- The faithful performance of the IYP Auto-Landing system is highly dependent upon the user's PC
performance. Slower CPUs and/or machines with limited memory may not be responsive enough to exeute these procedures.
- For those with slower PCs and/or slower Internet connections, it is recommended that you use
the IYP Auto-Landing system in the OFFLINE MODE.
- If you have a multi-processor, then set the Affinity of the ItsYourPlane.exe to a single processor using the Task Manager.

-
We have implemented a completely new approach to control the Radar Contact Menu system to address slower
computers systems that possess latency issues. In addition, we have had a couple of IYP users complain that
by using simply SHIFT + NUMERICS, was causing problems with other key assignments in other addon
products, and suggested that we go back to CRTL + SHIFT + NUMERIC. And, since we ALWAYS listen
to our customers, as of this release we're back to using (as we did originally), CRTL + SHIFT + NUMERIC.
Therefore, you need to reconfigure your Radar Contact Assignments... sorry... (:
- Before this revision, sound effects are automatically triggered when running through the IYP checklists. For example,
the sound of passengers boarding is triggered as part of the Pre-Flight checklist. However, some pilots prefer
to use their own checklists, but would still like to have the effects. Ergo, I have added the following voice
commands to control these functions:
Perform passenger boarding announcement (use during Pre-Flight)
Perform cross-check announcement (use during Before Start-Up)
Perform passenger safety announcement (use during Before-Taxi)
Perform prepare for landing announcement (use during Descent, below 10,000 feet)
Perform landing and taxi effects (used after touchdown after reverse thrust off)
Perform parking announcement (use during Parking)
Turn sound effects off
- Added the following voice commands at the suggestion of one of our blind pilots:
Switch to the ONLINE MODE
Switch to the OFFLINE MODE
Funny prompts ON
Funny prompts OFF

|
- Fixed a problem when executing the Tour message in the Before Startup checklist procedure.
- Fixed a problem where the Co-Pilot would say, "Locked on the Localizer", where there wasn't one!
|
- In previous versions, the Captain was required to say to the F/O (Michelle/Mike), "Load the ILS Approach Frequency for Runway XX" in
order to tell the F/O which runway to look for. After this command, the F/O would say, "Set the Course to XXX." This procedure still
works as previously implemented. However, if the Captain sets the NAV1 frequency to that of an ILS Approach, but did NOT execute
the aforememntioned procedure, but simply said, "Let's do the Approach Checklist", the F/O had no idea what to look for. As a result,
the F/O would NOT turn on the APP when the Localizer was detected. This has been addressed in this revision.
That is to say, when the Captain asks the F/O to execute the Approach and Landing checklists, the F/O looks to see if the NAV1
frequency is in range, and IF the current bearing suggests an ILS approach, will turn on the APP switch when the Localizer is captured.
- Significant improvements to the Glideslope detection were also made in the revision.
|
- Added a number of new voice commands in preparation for NEW aircraft soon to come online!
|
- Michelle was previously designed to automatically execute certain key commands in the ATC window to preselect modes. However,
this feature adversely affected those who run in the Push-To-Talk Mode by bringing up the ATC window when not desired.
Hence, these aitomatic features have been removed.
|
- There was a problem when making an approach and landing to a NON-ILS runway, where Michelle would pick up an ILS Approach Frequency from an adjacant Runway, and say, "Locked on the Localizer", and/or, "The Glideslope's Alive". This nasty problem has been fixed. Opsss!!!
- Michelle automatically looks left rear, left, left front and front upon the query, "Are we clear on the left?"
- Include the voice command... "Goodbye Michelle (or Mike) and thank you", to close the IYP programme.
|
- Duplicate phrases in the Cockpit Voice Recorder on "Make the heading ???", has been fixed.
- The last character in the Cockpit Voice Recorder was being truncated. This has been fixed.
