QUESTION #2: When I downloaded the newer version of IYP, it says it cannot be installed.
|
RESPONSE:
If you are running XP, please check to see if you have a folder entitled:
C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Local Settings\Apps\
If so, please DELETE this folder and ALL of the contents below it.
Then, click on Start > All Programs and see if there is an entry entitled:
Robert Cezar > It's Your Plane
If you have this entry, then please go to your Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and REMOVE:
Carefully read the Installation Instructions to ensure that you have
all of the necessary components properly installed on your PC.
Then, bring up your simulator and create and/or load a Flight. Then, go to the front page of the It's Your Plane Website:
and click on the link:
Registered Users - Download the Latest Version of It's Your Plane
If you have any problems, please post your issue to the IYP Support Forum, or use the Personally Communicate with Robert Cezar facility after you Login to the IYP Members area.

QUESTION #3: Sometimes, I have to repeat the word "checked" since Michelle seems to be
"deaf" for a second after she has read an item on her checklist.
|
|
RESPONSE: First, ensure that you are using a highly directional headset microphone. Next, make
certain that you have adequately TRAINED the Speech Recognition system. I recommend running a minimum
of three (3) sessions. Lastly, make sure you have the microphone positioned correctly on your head.
NOTE: If you do not see the text you have spoken displayed in the Speech Bar, then one (or more) of four things has
occurred:
- The microphone sensitivity is TOO LOW or TOO HIGH
- You are speaking TOO LOUDLY or TOO SOFTLY
- The microphone is improperly set on your head
- The phrase you are speaking does not exist
(check the COMMANDS section)
If all of the above seem to be working correctly, then please right click on the Task Manager (bottom left) while both the
simulator and IYP are running. Select the Processes tab. Click twice on the CPU column header
such that the highest consuming processes are at the top of the list. The IYP application should
be consuming no more than 1%-3% of the CPU time. The FSX simulator should be running
about 70%-80%. If it is running higher than that, then try reducing the load by dropping down
some of your scenery settings. Another thing --- make sure that ANY UNNECESSARY applications
(like MSNMessenger, Yahoo Messenger, etc.) are SHUT DOWN when you're flying.
|
QUESTION #4: I've noticed that some commands do not have an effect.
|
|
RESPONSE:
It's Your Plane (IYP) can only control SIMULATOR FUNCTIONS that are exposed via FSUIPC (except for PMDG aircraft, etc.).
PANEL SWITCHES, such as Seat Belt signs, No Smoking signs, virtual APU systems, etc., are not accessible.
IYP has PSEUDO functionality for these checklist items. e.g.,
When Michelle states, "The seat belts sign should be on", you can do one of two things.
- Simply say "Seat belts on" and the IYP application will VIRTUALLY turn on the sign and
make a "chime" sound. However, the panel switch will not move. NOTE: There isn't a Seat Belts sign in FS9 at all.
- Flip the seat belts sign switch on the panel manually to the ON position (if there is one),
then say, "Checked, or "Roger" and Michelle/Mike will carry on.
|
QUESTION #5: It would be nice if Michelle/Mike would understand "decimal" in addition to "point".
|
|
RESPONSE: In fact, they do. They "REMEMBER" the POINT and/or DECIMAL syntax.
Simply say (e.g.), "Set Nav1 to 113 DECIMAL 25", and they will respond with DECIMAL from then on.
If you want them to return to POINT, Simply say (e.g.), "Set Nav1 to 113 POINT 25"
|
QUESTION #6: Why can't Michelle/Mike understand "Reduce speed to two zero knots"?
|
|
RESPONSE: The problem with the phrase, "Reduce speed to two two zero",
is that it will interpreted as, "Reduce speed TWO two two zero".
Therefore, the only phrase than can be used for airspeed is, "Airspeed two two zero".
|
QUESTION #7: It would be nice if one could automatically disable Michelle/Mike during ATC readbacks and communications.
|
|
RESPONSE: Simply say, "One moment please", or, "Hang on a minute" and they will be silent.
To resume the conversation, simply say, "Say again...", or "Please continue..." and they will continue.
There are a number of other phrases you can use that are listed under the
section of this site. Just scroll down to
Stop FO and Start FO.

QUESTION #8: I have a German operating system and the IYP application displays a panel error on launch.
|
|
RESPONSE: The problem occurs because the It's Your Plane application reads the "Window Titles" from the
PANEL.CFG file in order to facilitate the commands: "Bring up the [Window Name]" and "Get rid of the [Window Name]".
Unfortunately, the Window Names in German contain characters that the standard ASCII table cannot read. Therefore,
an error occurs.
Since the IYP application only operates in English at this point, it makes no sense to be using the German (or any other non-English) names,
because you would have to say, "Bring up the Funkgruppe", instead of "Bring up the Radio Stack". Therefore, the simplest
resolution is to change all Non-English Window Names to English Window Names within the PANEL.CFG.
NOTE: Changing the Window Titles will not adversely affect the simulator's operations; these names are effectively "comments".
For example, the German Window Titles are:
[Window Titles]
window00=Hauptinstrumentenbrett
window01=Funkgruppe
Window02=GPS
Window03=Instrumentenbrett für Leistung
Window04=Oberes Instrumentenbrett
Window05=Instrumentenbrett für Trimmung
Window06=PFD
Window07=MFD
Window08=EICAS
Window09=Kleines Instrumentenbrett
They need to be replaced with:
[Window Titles]
window00=Main Panel
window01=Radio Stack
Window02=GPS
Window03=Throttle Panel
Window04=Overhead Panel
Window05=Trim Panel
Window06=PFD
Window07=MFD
Window08=EICAS
Window09=Mini Panel

QUESTION #9: IYP cannot find FSUIPC on my Vista installation.
|
|
RESPONSE: If you have installed BOTH FS9 and FSX, then there is a high likelihood that your Registry has gotten messed up!
Since IYP uses the registry to find the location of FSX, if there is no path - it can't find FSUIPC. Please try downloading the free
"FSX Registry Utility" from Tweak FS here:
This should help you eliminate the registry problem.
The required Registry entries for a 32-bit operating system are:
FS9:
RegistryHive.LocalMachine, "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0", "EXE Path"
FSX:
RegistryHive.LocalMachine, "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0", "SetupPath"
respectively.
The required Registry entries for a 64-bit operating system are:
FS9:
RegistryHive.LocalMachine, "SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Flight Simulator 9.0", "InstallLocation"
FSX:
RegistryHive.LocalMachine, "SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0", "SetupPath"
respectively

QUESTION #10: The Speech Bar Display does not work!
|
|
RESPONSE:
Please ensure that you do not have the:
Hide all single line messages
option set (checked) in FSUIPC.
|
QUESTION #11: Why do I get... "It appears though as if flightplan and/or aircraft have changed, etc." in the midst of a flight?
|
|
RESPONSE:
Please ensure that you are not running:
in FSUIPC. For more details, please go here:

QUESTION #12: What does the Process Priority checkbox do?
|
|
RESPONSE:
When this feature is selected (turned on), it steps up the Priorities of the SAPI (Voice Regognition and Text-To-Speech) server and
the It's Your Plane application. You can observe the step-up by right-clicking on the Task Bar at the bottom right of your
screen, and selecting the Task Manager.
Select the Processes tab and right-click on the sapisvr.exe and/or the itsyourplane.exe
application. Then, pass your mouse over the Set Priority selection to observe the Priority level.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This option should only be used with computer systems that have limited CPU processing capabilities.

QUESTION #13: Why did my system automatically change from the normal ONLINE mode, to the OFFLINE mode?
|
|
RESPONSE:
If for any reason you cannot connect via the Internet to the IYP servers,
the program will automatically switch to the OFFLINE mode and must be manually switched back
to the ONLINE mode. To acomplish this, UNCHECK the Run offline
checkbox on the IYP Main panel. To get to the IYP Main panel,
simply minimize your simulator's window.
|
QUESTION #14: What does the "OFFLINE" mode do - or not do please?
|
|
RESPONSE:
When in the OFFLINE mode, there are ZERO COMMUNICATIONS with the IYP servers.
This means that the Flight Tracker is deactivated, the ACARS Log files cannot be uploaded,
and real-time weather reports are not communicated during Flight-Following announcements.
Other than that, there's no real difference.
|
QUESTION #15: Auto-Feather Doesn't work on my Beechcraft King Air C90B.
|
RESPONSE:
Make sure that you have set up a the Key Assignment
under:
Options > Settings > Controls > Buttons / Keys > Autofeather (Arm/Off)
|
QUESTION #16: Where can I download the manual?
|
|
RESPONSE:
The ’Manual’ (per se) is built-in. i.e, All the user need do is say, "Please help me." Since IYP is based upon an audible paradigm, it seemed logical to have the manual... ’Vocalised’. Furthermore, since new features that are driven by user input, happen on a regular basis, a ’printed manual' would likely be outdated before the ink dried! (LOL)
The primary ’written’ source of help are the checklists themselves:
Within each checklist, the ’suggested’ response is set forth. Naturally, there are alternative phrases that can be used.
e.g., ’Checked’. ’Affirmative’, ’Roger’, ’Yes it is’, ’Yes they are’, all ostensibly mean the same thing. Naturally, all of the ’Voice Commands’ are located at:
The commands and checklists are automatically updated every time a phrase and/or query is added to the application. This keeps the Website data current.
|
QUESTION #17: Why do commands keep repeating themseleves?
|
RESPONSE:
Whenever you make a flight with It's Your Plane, transcripts of both your spoken commands,
as well as Michelle's responses (your beautiful Co-Pilot), are stored in transcript files
located in a folder under your flight simulator's root directory, called "IYPlogs". e.g.,
- C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2004\IYPlogs\20070727125045.htm
- C:\Program files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\IYPlogs\20070727125045.htm
In the HTM file you will see what you and Michelle said in the cockpit.
There is little doubt but that you have a problem with your audio set up. The output sound is being sent back to your microphone input.
The transcript will show:
You said: ABC
Michelle said: ABC
You said: ABC
Michelle said: ABC
You said: ABC
Michelle said: ABC
You said: ABC
Michelle said: ABC
etc. This will only occur where the checklist ’prompts’ syntax is very close to your ’response’ syntax. e.g.,
You said: ’Landing lights on.’
Michelle said: 'Landing lights on?'
You said: 'Landing lights on.'
Michelle said: 'Landing lights on?'
You said: 'Landing lights on.'
Michelle said: 'Landing lights on?'
Your answer is being fed back to the microphone input, and Michelle is picking
her response to you, as you saying the command again, and again, and again.
Please carefully check your audio setup.
