The Boeing 727 is an American mid-size, narrow-body, three-engine, T-tailed commercial jet airliner. The first Boeing 727 flew in 1963 and for over a decade it was the most produced commercial jet airliner in the world. When production ended in 1984, a total of 1,831 aircraft had been produced. The 727's sales record for the most jet airliners ever sold was broken in the early 1990s by its younger stablemate, the Boeing 737. The 727 was produced following the success of the Boeing 707 quad-jet airliner. Designed for short-haul routes, the 727 became a mainstay of airlines' domestic route networks. It was our belief after speaking with a number of IYPers, that there are many different published checklist procedures, and users would invariably prefer to run through those themselves. Much of the in-flight controls can be controlled by IYP - e.g., ATC, Landing Gear, Flaps, Altitude, Heading, Course, Views, etc. However, the Auto-Pilot has to be maintained by the pilot flying the aircraft... namely you! So, you need to trun on the Auto-Pilot, the Heading Hold and the Altitude Hold manually on the AP panel. Then, Michelle will properly respond to... "Climb and maintain...", "Turn right heading...", etc. In addition, since there's no Auto-Throttle in a 727-100, you need to maintain the airspeed throughout the flight manually - as in the real world! Michelle (or Mike) will still operate the Set Belts signage and make Flight Following announcements to keep the passengers informed and entertained. Since you cannot execute the normal IYP checklists, the typical Cabin and Flight Crew announcements are not automatically made. However, you can invoke them by voice command.
