Talking Checklists With Voice Commands!

OK... Your diligent co-pilot Michelle is running down the checklists.   She's calling out all of the things you need to take care of . . . from gate-to-gate . . . step-by-step.   Great!

QUESTION:   But, what do I say or do when Michelle calls for an action?

ANSWER:   Simple... just follow the instructions provided in the right column!

CHECKLIST EXAMPLE:

Boeing 747-400 Checklists
Items displayed in red are pseudo processes, or dummy panel switches, that do not actually control the flight simulator functions.   Items displayed in parenthesis () are optional.
Pre-Flight Checklist
Michelle asks or instructs . . . You say or do . . .     (only if necessary)
Parking brakes set? (set) (turn) (the) parking brakes on
Battery master switch on? (set) (turn) (the) battery master switch on
Are the panel lights set as required? (set) (turn) (the) panel lights on, or off
Start the A. P. U. (set) (turn) (the) a p u on
Avionics on? (set) (turn) (the) avionics on
Gear down and locked? landing gear down
Flaps up and trimmed. flaps up
Spoilers fully retracted. retract (the) spoilers
Ensure that the fuel flow to all engines has been cut. number [engine number] fuel off (e.g., number one fuel off)
Engine instruments. checked, roger, or (the) engine instruments (have) (been) checked
Anti-ice as needed. checked, roger, anti ice on, or anti ice off
Aircraft lighting? checked, roger, or (the) aircraft lighting (has been) checked
Check weather. we have the weather
Altimeter setting? altimeter [value] (e.g., altimeter 29.92, or altimeter 1013)
Request I F R clearance. select [ATC#], menu item [ATC#], or request i f r clearance
Transponder set? checked, roger, or squawk [value] (e.g., squawk 1234)
Set altitude make the altitude [value] (e.g., make the aititude one two thousand)
Navigation lights on? (set) (turn) (the) navigation lights on
The no smoking signs should be on. no smoking on
Captain. Would you like me to turn on the cabin music? affirmative, yes please, negative, or, no thanks
Attention flight crew. you can begin passenger boarding at this time.. Nothing

So... as you can see, we listen to your requests and we act on them... quickly!
