3-Digit Local Airport Codes
After interfacing the DHC-2 de Havilland Beaver and referencing most of the Water Landing points on the Airports Page:
(where you can look up airport altitudes, runways, frequencies, ILS approaches, etc.),
I quickly realised that there are also MANY 3-Digit, as well as the standard 4-Digit ICAO codes used as airport identifiers.
So, in order to address this issue, I have created a NEW COMMAND:
Local destination airport... ( followed by a 3-digit expression )
For example, instead of saying:
"Make the destination airport Charlie, Yankee, Victor, Romeo."
which has a 4-Digit ICAO code, you can now say:
"Make the LOCAL destination airport Tango, Three, Eight."
This will set the destination airport to be the 3-Digit local airport identifier
T38, a designated water landing at Lake Tahoe, California. Of course, this applies to ALL 3-Digit codes
used for local and private airports as well, not just water landings.
You can go to:
and look for the command: Local Destination Airport.
Two Other Oversights!
1. Amphibian Aircraft Don't Like Landing on Concrete!
Trying to land an amphibian only aircraft ( like the default DHC-2 that is currently in FSX ) on a
CONCRETE RUNWAY, is probably a VERY BAD IDEA!!!
The code has been modified to address this nasty oversight.
2. Flap Settings!
While it is true that you can ask Michelle...
"What are the flap positions?"
and she'll read them back to you, what if you have never used this command, or simply forgot about it?
Well, let's say you're are flying the Beaver, and you say...
Up until now, nothing would happen... Michelle simply ignored you. This issue has been addressed. Now if you
call for 10 on the flaps of a Beaver ( which incidentally isn't a valid setting ), Michelle says:
"Captain, the flap positions are, 15, 35, 50 and 58."
Now, that's better... eh? ( sorry once a Canadian, always a Canadian... LOL )
I hope you find this information helpful.
Wishing you many enjoyable airborne hours with Michelle ( or Mike ).
