When you download and install the IYP application Version 3.1.2, the first thing you will notice
are the new features on the front panel (see image to the right).
Primary Focus
The main objective of this new release was to permit users to run the IYP application
completely offline. This became a very important issue for people who reside in
rural areas where their Internet connectivity is marginal at best.
This required the moving of many server-based functions to the IYP application,
namely: Cabin Background Music, Sound Effects and Crew Announcements,
Flight Following Announcements, Get Weather, Get Flight Data, the Loading of
ILS and Backcourse Approach Frequencies, etc.
As a result, when you install this new version, a series of files get downloaded
to your PC. Namely, audio files and a new XML database that contains the airport information.

Software Updates
After installing this new version of IYP, you will notice a Program > Robert Cezar > It's Your Plane link.
This becomes the link you use to launch the IYP application. Even if you are running your application in the
OFFLINE mode, clicking on this link will advise you of Software Upgrades if you have an active Internet connection.
You can elect to download the updates or not.
Checklist and XML Airport Database Updates
If you are in the ONLINE mode, then any changes made to the Checklists and/or XML Airport Database file will
be automatically downloaded... as they have done in the past with the previous Versions 1 and 2.
However, when you are
running the IYP application in the OFFLINE mode, your trusty co-pilot, Mike or Michelle will say, "You are in the offline mode. All server
functions have been disabled." In this mode, you never visit the IYP Website for any reason.
IYP Accelerator
If you are running a rather slow processor, then you can step up the priority level of the IYP application to
give it more of the CPU's capabilities. This can be observed in the Task Manager. You should only use this feature
if you absolutely need it, because it will rob your simulator of some CPU cycles when activated.
Cabin Music and Effects Sound Level Adjustment
When the cabin music and sound effects were being streamed from the server, the audio levels were automatically
being controlled by the server. Now that these audio files are loaded onto your PC, you control the sound levels
with the Cabin Music and Effects Volume control on the main control panel.
Cruising Checklist
As in previous versions of IYP, the Cruise Checklist gets repeated approximately every 20-25 minutes during flight.
A couple of users have asked that there be a way to restrict Mike or Michelle from repeating the question
"Would like to perform the Cruise Checklist?" during long flights. Why? Because they likely went out for dinner and
by the time they got back home, the co-pilot had practically lost his/her voice repeating the question, over and over
and over and over!!!
So, if you now respond with "Negative" or "No thanks" to the request, this function does not get
offered again for the rest of the flight. If you decide that you want to arm this function again, simply say, "Cruise checklist"
and when offered, respond with "Yes please", or "Affirmative."
Keep in mind that once you say "Yes please", the Cruise Checklist
will get offered again in about 20-25 minutes. So, don't go out for dinner!
Load the ILS Approach Frequency for Runway XX
When you now say, for example, "Load the ILS Approach Frequency for Runway 26 Left", your trusty co-pilot will
set Nav 1 to the correct frequency as in the past. However, in previous versions, Mike or Michelle would ask YOU
for the COURSE setting. With this new version, they respond with the COURSE. e.g., "Set the course to 163."
Too Many Other Improvements to Mention...
Bascially, this new version of IYP incorporates a whole series of changes and upgrades that have come about by
user suggestions over the past few months. I am sure you will find this new edition even more enjoyable than previous versions.
I would sincerely appreciate your feedback.
Wishing you safe landings,
Robert Cezar
Your IYP Developer.
