It's Your Plane - Version 3.1.4 Now Available!
|
IYP is really getting to be a BIG thing. It's more that "just" a co-pilot. With this
NEW release, I don’t think that anything comes even close to what you offer!
One of Many Ecstatic It's Your Plane Users... Lars of Denmark
|
This version of It's Your Plane includes MANY updates and suggestions from users. Here's a brief list of some of the
major additions and upgrades:
- Commands Updated - The Commands section of the IYP Website has been updated.
- Pilots - New Website Section Added - A New www.ItsYourPlane.com Link (see links above)
- ACARS (please refer to the
February 11, 2008 Newsletter for details)
- PIREP - Automatically
Post ACARS Logs to the IYP Servers by Voice Command
- Flight-Tracker System has been deployed
(click
Flight Tracker on front page of our Website)
- Quick Start Mode suppresses much of the start up dialogue when activated
- Checklists Execution has been dramatically sped up by reducing repetition
- V1, Rotate, V2 functionality has been fixed
- Beechcraft C90B aircraft now supported in both FS9 and FSX (more details in next Newsletter)
- De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft now supported in FSX (more details in next Newsletter)
The Commands section of the IYP Website has had a facelift! A bunch of new commands have been added, and they are now grouped in logical sections.
Check it out!
There's also a new It's Your Plane site link entitled: Pilots (see above). Much of this area is
still under development, but the PIREP - Pilots' Log Book is currently fully operational. There's also a
Complete Sample Flight from KHQM to KAST that you may wish to examine closely!
(Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System)
Please refer to the February 11, 2008 Newsletter for a detailed overview of the ACARS.
There were a few things that were not covered in the aforementioned overview. Since the product was not yet ready for release, the
following voice commands were not delineated:
Activate the ACARS System
Deactivate the ACARS System
The above commands are basically global commands to switch the ACARS on/off. This "switch" is "remembered". i.e., Each time you
launch the IYP application, the setting will be as you last set it; Activated/Deactivated.
Start ACARS Logging
Save ACARS Data
The above commands are used to begin the ACARS logging process, and to write the ACARS data to your hard drive at the conclusion of the flight, respectively.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When ACARS logging is started, the Simulation Rate is locked to 1X1... for obvious reasons.
Your ACARS data is written to:
[Your Simulator's Root Folder]\IYPLogs\ACARS\
in the formatyyyymmddhhmmss.txt   (e.g., 20080214025630.txt)
and Michelle (Mike) will say,"The ACARS data has been saved to your local drive. Please check the ACARS folder, under I. Y. P. Logs."
Bring up ACARS Window
Kill ACARS Window, or, Get rid of the ACARS Window
The above commands are used to display and hide the ACARS window respectively.
After saving your ACARS data to your local machine, your trusty Copilot will then ask you:
"Would you like to upload your ACARS data to the It's Your Plane Pilot's Log?"
If you respond with "Affirmative", Michelle (Mike) will say...
"Please wait."
"Your ACARS data has been uploaded to the It's Your Plane pilots' log. You will receive a report by e-mail shortly. Captain, It's Your Plane."
Your ACARS data is uploaded to the IYP servers, and a confirmation e-mail is sent to you.
Assuming that your flight data was complete and accurate, your log is posted
to the PIREP
Pilots' Log Book section of the IYP Website and an e-mail is sent to you confirming this.
If your Flight Data had errors, or the ACARS Log was not complete and accurate,
the e-mail will detail these errors and the Log will NOT be posted.
If you respond with "Negative", then your Co-Pilot will say...
"That's fine. You can file your ACARS data to the It's Your Plane pilot's log at any time via
the IYP Website. Captain, It's Your Plane."
The Flight Tracker is a logical extension of the IYP ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System).
To distinguish between the two systems, consider the ACARS as a LOGGING system that prints to your computer's file
system a complete log of your flight when concluded, while the Flight Tracker is an IN-FLIGHT presentation of
the same basic information as the flight progresses from gate-to-gate.
The Flight Tracker updates its Google Map every minute, presenting all of the important in-flight data. Here's a sample:
If the IYP user (pilot) is flying "by-the-book" and running through all of the checklists, then the Flight Tracker
Status will indicate which checklist is currently being executed, e.g.,
STATUS: Pre-Flight Checklist
STATUS: Before Takeoff Checklist
etc.
If on the other hand, the IYP pilot is flying without executing checklists, then the Status will indicate the general status, e.g.,
STATUS: Cold and Dark
STATUS: Shut Down After Landing
etc.
A number of users have asked me to implement an option that will suppress startup phrases like:
"Hi, my name is Michelle. I will be flying along side you today."
"Good morning Captain Robert."
"Please wait while I connect to the It's Your Plane server for correct aircraft,
flight plan, checklist and weather information."
To activate the Quick Start feature, simply say, "Activate Quick Start Mode."
To deactivate the Quick Start feature, say, "Deactivate Quick Start Mode."
Personally speaking, I prefer to listen to Michelle or Mike greeting me and telling what they're about to do.
However, "One man's favorite plane is another man's boat anchor!"

Another group of users have asked that I remove some of the "echoing" in the checklist sequence. For example, assuming
that the Parking Brakes were already on, the old versions would go like this:
"Parking Brakes set?"
"Parking Brakes on."
In this new version, assuming the Parking Brakes are already on, Michelle (Mike) will simply say,
This has been implemented to a wide array of checklist items. Some could not be executed in this manner, due to
code complexity. However, I believe you will notice much quicker execution of checklists in the new version.
There was a coding error in this process. I believe I now have this sorted out,
however, some values may need to be tweaked since fixing the code. Please let me know if you see something erroneous! Thanks.
The Beechcraft C90 series has been added to the cadre of aircraft. It's a GREAT aircraft to fly!
The new and improved IYP Edition 3.1.4 is required. Give it a try.
The FSX De Havilland Dash 8 series has been added to the hanger as well.
I found the aircraft HERE.
The new and improved IYP Edition 3.1.4 is required. Give it a try.

As always, I'd sincerely appreciate your feedback.
