The Cherokee was one of the most popular single engine planes ever built. And, despite the popularity of other more modern small planes, the Piper Cherokee remains a great all-round aircraft. The Carenado Cherokee 180 is powered by a Lycoming O-360 four cylinder engine, so you can expect to passing the C172s with ease. After spending a few weeks interfacing the IYP application, I can attest to the fact that this Carenado model flies just like her real-world counterpart. The flight controls are very responsive, and the handling is great!
When I first loaded the aircraft on my system, I began looking for the Auto-Pilot. Guess what? There isn't one! That's right... we're back in the 60s. You can be sure that you won't fall asleep on longer flights. This aircraft is equipped with VFR instrumentation only. So, you'll need to keep a fix on the instrument panel.
Naturally, your IYP Co-Pilot Michelle (or Mike) will still assist you with take off and climb out, approach and landing as with other aircraft. But don't ask your Co-Pilot to Lock on the Localizer, or traverse the Glideslope! LOL. But, flying this puppy is all kinds of fun. I really enjoyed interfacing IYP with this fine Carenado aircraft. This is one you should definitely have in your hanger!
