As you have probably noticed, the IYP User Manual 4.1 is now on our Website for Members to download. Over the last couple of weeks, we have learned that the manual’s PDF format does not work for our visually impaired Members, many of whom use JAWS® or similar screen reader and braille output technology. In addition, screen readers cannot read the graphics that are included in the manual.
There’s an ever-growing number of registered IYP members who are blind or visually impaired who are thoroughly enjoying the thrill of sim flying. Therefore, Helen Cooper (our resident proof reader) has released an HTML non-graphic version of the User Manual, specifically designed for our blind and visually impaired pilots. The Blind Visually Impaired (BVI) User Manual has an index page with links to each section. Screen reading programs will be able to read this alternate BVI Version.
The Maunal can be downloaded frm the IYP home page under the link:
The reason we have characterised this as a BETA version of the manual, is that we're seeking constrcutive feedback from BVI members. Please let us know how we can improve the manual.
